How would the story be different if it were told from a different view point or perspective?

The story 'The Messenger' By Lois Lowry is told in third person view point. You can tell because the narrator doesn't say 'I' or 'me'. The narrator also tells everyone's thoughts and feelings. If the story were told from Matty's view point for example, we would be inside his head, all of his ideas and thoughts put in front of us. It would also be all about Matty for the most part of the story, since he cannot tell us what everyone else in the story is thinking or feeling. All the other characters would be mostly in the background, only their visible actions told to us from Matty's view. It would make the story sound a lot different from what it is now. If it were from Matty's view point, everything would be told in the way he would tell it. He would use his own words and diction which would most likely differ from that of Lois Lowry's. The meaning of the story would change and become a lot more realistic because it is told through a witness's eyes of the events happening. It would also be more realistic because there isn't one person telling how everyone feels or thinks, which is not possible for one character to tell, only their actions that are visible. This makes the point of view and perspective a story is told from, what make a story unique.
