How would the story be different if it didn't take place in the same setting?

  If the story took place in a different setting, the story would have changed a lot. The surrounding areas would not be the same, the trip through Forest may have taken longer, there may not have even been a Forest nearby. The fact that Village is by Forest makes this entire story possible. If Village were not near Forest, than Matty would have had to make a much longer trip to get Kira, not only going through Forest, but he would've had to go some distance to even get to Forest. That would make the journey different, and the villages would not be as close as they are now. If Village was built on a desert area, the people of Village would have more problems than just the argument of letting in more people from the other village, there would be water problems, illnesses from lack of water, and much more. Since Village is made in a grassy area with plenty of water, it makes the story the way it is. Every aspect of Village makes the story the way it is. If the time period was different and in the future, then the trip through Forest wouldn't have been as significant, seeing as you wouldn't have to step a foot in it, just drive through it. The story wouldn't be the same if you changed the time period or the location of Village. It would not be as meaningful. The characters may also behave differently because they would not have the same experiences in life as the characters do now in their setting.
