Solution

  The solution to the story 'The Messenger' was that Matty used his powers. Matty healed Forest and Village from the bad changes. It was a huge sacrifice to use his powers, because he ended up dying from the physical exertion. Forest ended up going back to the way it was before it started to turn evil and attack the people that would go through it. Village ended up going back to normal, before everyone became selfish. Mentor went back to the way he was before he began making trades for love. His birthmark came back, he went back to his normal height, he became nice again, and he is talking normally again. Ramon is healed from his illness, his fever gone. Frolic, Matty's dog is fine and ended up finding Kira an Leader. Kira, Leader, Christopher, and the rest of Village mourned Matty's death. Leader gave Matty his true name, even though he is no longer. Although Matty had always wanted the name Messenger, he is truly Healer.
