Leader

  Leader is one of the mysterious people in 'The Messenger' especially if you haven't read 'The Giver'. Leader was in a community before, a community that took away peoples' feelings and love did not exist there. Leader's real name is Jonas. He is also able to see colors, something no one else except his teacher the Giver could do. He was told to run away and he took baby Gabriel with him and passed down his ability. Leader created his own Village. A place where people respect each other's flaws and differences. Leader is a static character, and one of the main characters and protagonists. He is a big part in the conflict because he is in charge of Village, and he sees everything that happens in it. He notices the change in his society, and Forest getting thicker. He plays a big part in the theme 'People will do anything for love.' by allowing people to feel love and make trades for love. He is the reason people in Village have the rights they have now. They do not describe Leader very much in the story, but in 'The Giver', he is described as having light eyes.
