Kira
Kira is another one of the characters in 'The Messenger' that you would have some trouble understanding without reading one of the previous books in the series, like the character Leader. Kira has the ability to dye and make threads. The can make the most beautiful cloth too. Kira's village is a society where women are not equal with men, where women cannot read, hunt, or fight. Her village is one of lies and troubled times. Kira finds out that her father is actually alive (everyone said he was killed by 'beasts'), and that the person she trusted most actually attacked him instead of the 'beasts'. Kira is a protagonist and one of the main characters. She is a static character (she changed from the book previous to this one but not in this book) and plays a big part in the conflict of Village closing because she is the last person that will be admitted into Village, and she must get there in time with Matty. Kira also is given a Warning from Forest when she is going to Village with Matty. Kira also has a bad leg, bent from when she was born. Kira has dark hair, eats a lot (Vandara said she did in the previous book), and adores a little girl named Jo, the future Singer. (Where is Jo now?)
