Theme #1
The first theme that I found was that people will do anything for love. An example is when Mentor's trade is explained. Mentor has been trading his personality for love. This is supported by his change. Mentor's birthmark is faded, he is taller, and his voice has changed too. He changed himself for a widow that he fell in love with. In the text it said,"'A strange trade for him to have made,' the blind man commented. Leader shrugged. 'For a woman,' he pointed out. 'People do strange things.'" (Lowry, page 133) Yes people do strange things for love.
